Solstice marks the year's longest day, the sun at its highest point and the light at its most generous. It is a time that signifies a pause, a slowing down as spring comes to an end and summer truly begins. Evenings refuse to end and nature is in full bloom. We adore this time in Europe, and no better way to meet it than with an itinerary built around the season itself.

Reschio – Umbria, Italy
The sprawling Reschio estate presents itself as the perfect canvas for the long days around Solstice. Set in the rolling green hills of Umbria, the estate is defined by a kind of unhurried grandeur that aligns perfectly with the season's spirit.
Bell'aria, Tisciano and Barco, the estate's most prestigious residences, are built for dinners that stretch into the evenings, with terraces positioned to hold the last warmth of the day.
The extended daylight creates space for a programme of rare unhurriedness. Mornings begin slowly with yoga in the estate's own Church of San Michele, a uniquely intimate setting. Afternoons might be spent foraging the valleys for wild herbs and edible plants, gathered by hand before a private cooking class transforms them into something extraordinary. Perhaps even taking the Lake House for the day, with a chef-prepared picnic of local produce and wine grown on the estate.
The owner of Reschio is known for his lifelong love of horses. As evening falls on the longest days, guests can take to horseback and ride through the Umbrian countryside as the sky shifts from blue to rose to amber, a setting that compels you to slow down and is entirely unforgettable.
Villa La Guettière – Cap d'Antibes, France
Villa La Guettière was our most celebrated opening last season and returns for its second year. Tucked quietly beside Port de l'Olivette on the Cap d'Antibes, it was designed for groups who wish to experience the Côte d'Azur with the utmost privacy.
Days begin beneath the shade of the pergola with breakfast served unhurriedly, followed by a promenade along the Cap and a first swim. The villa anticipates every need before the need has quite formed, its amenities, its staff, its positioning all speaking to guests before they know to ask.
June on the Cap d'Antibes is a different proposition entirely from July or August. Away from the high summer rush, the Riviera offers a slower pace as the days stretch out, with space to take to the water, explore Antibes' rich culture, and enjoy rare, unhurried moments with those closest to you.
Tagomago Island – Ibiza, Spain
Situated just off the eastern coast of Ibiza with unbroken panoramic views of the island and the open ocean, Tagomago's reimagining has captured our attention entirely. The island comes fully alive in June. The light here at Solstice is something particular, the sunsets seemingly never end, drawing you gently into the summer season. From water or from land, you watch it until it finally concedes to dark.
Tagomago's unique position allows you to move between the White Isle's vibrant energy and an entirely private oasis. The island's expert team understand this juxtaposition and have created a setting that plays host to the most exquisite soirees or the quietest of moments. Here, you can indulge in both, never having to choose.

Spirit of Son Fuster – Mallorca, Spain
Positioned at the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Serra de Tramuntana, Son Fuster offers something increasingly rare: forty hectares of wild Mallorcan countryside held entirely to oneself. The estate's ethos is built around nature, not as an amenity, but as the inspiration behind every hour spent here.
Son Fuster was designed to slow you down, entirely in sync with its surroundings. Its architecture draws from the mountain landscape that frames it, and the experiences on offer are shaped by the same spirit, unhurried, considered, and deeply connected to place.
The Serra de Tramuntana rises dramatically behind the estate, ancient and unhurried, lending a perspective that the longest day seems to demand. Here, the Solstice is not a calendar event but a physical experience: light arriving early, lingering late, and filling every valley in between.
The Solstice, of course, does not belong to land alone. Aboard a private expedition yacht, the longest day stretches further still, the horizon chasing the light as you move through open water on a route entirely your own. Further north, a Scottish castle such as Glen Affric at midsummer is one of the great undiscovered pleasures, long evenings, ancient grounds and a sky that never quite goes dark.
